Body oil before or after a shower?

    The short answer

For Bare & Fair’s Neem & Turmeric Body Oil, our pre-bath directions are to massage onto dry skin, leave for 20 to 45 minutes, then shower. Gotu Kola & Kakadu Plum Body Oil is our post-bath option: press and sweep it over damp skin straight after a bath or shower. These are directions for these two formulas, not a rule for every body oil.

Before bathing: a slower massage ritual

For Neem & Turmeric Body Oil, warm one to two pumps between your palms and massage onto dry body skin. Our directions suggest leaving it on for 20 to 45 minutes before showering, with a longer ritual once or twice a week. Turmeric can tint skin or fabric, so use an older towel or robe.

After bathing: apply while skin is damp

For Gotu Kola & Kakadu Plum Body Oil, warm three to five pumps between your palms. Press and sweep over damp body skin straight after a shower or bath, following the directions on the product page. The formula includes squalane and seed oils, with sandalwood and vetiver in its scent profile.

You do not need both for every bath

Choose the timing that fits your routine. Our Neem & Turmeric directions also allow a small amount after bathing, so the two products are not an obligatory pair. Read the current label, patch test before first use, and stop using a product if irritation occurs. These products are for external cosmetic use.
